Getting the Wheeling Fever
Anyone know where I could locate a new Timing chain cover? In the middle of rebuilding the engine; threads were stripped in the holes closest to the water pump, so we drilled and tapped it to accept a bigger bolt. There isn't much area left to seal now, hoping it will work when I start er up. Down the road I may want to replace with a new timing chain cover; nada one place I've gone to has em. Ideas <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

87' Raider: off road package, rebuilt engine with (new) stock tires and alloy wheels but otherwise original.

If nobody has one check msrecycling.com or car-part.com

Car-part is usually cheaper but you may be able to negotiate with msrecycling.com

Alas, I have no timing covers. My travels through three yards today were for naught, I saw mostly 2L in the pickups and only 2 V6 Monty's.

Body Damage is Cool
the turbo one should work...isn't the only difference the tapped hole for the turbo oil-return line??? you can just shove a bolt plug in that hole and be good to go.

99% sure that is a correct statement. Quite sure the cases are the same as a whole. And the pretty sure the oil return is the only difference on the turbos. IIRC, to do it in reverse, retro a turbo to a non-turbo, drilling and tapping the boss for the oil return was all that was needed on the cover.

Yes, just use a pipe plug (1/2" npt plug??) and save the turbo oil return nipple for later...
