I don't know what a C22 is, but here in the states there were 2 gear ratios available...most Troopers, including the 2.8Ls, had 4.56 gears...but a few with the big tire option had 4.77s, including most of the RS (short wheel base) models here. NZ versions might vary though...

I think all 89-97 model year 2.6, 2.8 & 3.2l gas engined troopers came with 4.56 or 4.77 (rare) gears. Anything built in 87 and 88 may or may not be interchangeable since some came with the smaller engines and smaller axles. I think they were all 4.56, but they ring bolt counts may be 8 in front 10 in rear, 10 for front and rear, or 10 in front and 12 in rear.

hi would anyone be able to tell me if a diff off a 88 c22 bighorn would fit my 88 2.8 ltr any help would be great I suspect that he is talking about the 2.8l DIESEL, but we will have to wait for him to respond back. As far as I know, the 2.8l GAS was only available in the U.S.

In the UK the change over from the 8 bolt front and 10 bolt rear to the 10 bolt front and 12 bolt rear was 87 I believe. If they are the same year as you say they should share the same diff carriers. The ratios may be different but probably will be the same if the bighorn is a diesel. But this can be a good thing, provided you swap the both diffs!
I have petrol 4.56 diffs in my 89 Mk1 (was a 4JB1) in place of the stock 4.44 diesel diffs, compensating for the larger boots.
(apologise if I am telling granny how to suck eggs with the ratios)
