Need a Spot
1995 Montero SR 3.5L DOHC.

My engine while I have it in idle is heating up I haved checked my cooling system and its all right. What else can cause my engine to heat up? Can it be the catalyst system?
Out side tempereture is about 95 degrees.

Regards,

Arnold Richters.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well since there isn't a significant air mass moving over the engine/radiator at a stand-still, most engines heat up more than while moving. This along with the fact that these mitsu engines are known to run hot may put it in a tight spot.

Exactly how hot is it running? Just don't let it hit the red, think about a coolant flush maybe at least. Replacing an old radiator is also a good idea, but $$

87' Raider: off road package, rebuilt engine with (new) stock tires and alloy wheels but otherwise original.

The engine cooling fan is likely slipping. With a warm engine, switch off the ignition while watching the fan blades..... if they don't stop immediately with the engine, the fan clutch should be replaced.

And don't replace the radiator - if you think it's clogged, have it rodded out by a radiator shop. The Mitsu radiators are high quality and worth rodding, as most aftermarket replacement are not as good.
