Need a Spot
Got most every part I need now. I am getting all new valve springs since most do not meet the minimum requirements in free length. I also have lightly honed the cylinders since they were smooth. We test fitted my new rings (which are standard size) and they fit perfectly. Now it is a matter of cleaning parts, and reassembling the engine.

Just took out the pistons today. Whoever rebuilt this engine last placed the piston ring openings on the same side near each other. Also, the rod bearings are wiped. The crank is in good shape other than some old oil. This engine has been neglected, and I am the one putting new life into it. I am having the block hot tanked soon.

rings do rotate so they may have been installed correctly to begin with <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
