Getting the Wheeling Fever

Hey all I bought another Raider yesterday. '89 v6 auto. The guy says he installed OME coil springs last year. Is it typical for this to lift the back end up farther than the front? (see photo). If so, will a simple torsion bar adjustment get the front up enough or is this not recommended. I know someone here has been there done that so I'm needing some advice. No crawler project but these rims will be replaced with 16" with 33" tires. Just level it out using the torsion bars as you mentioned and throw the new wheels and rubber on. Be mindful of the bump stop proximity unless you want a REALLY rough ride, but you'll be good...

Thanks for the advice Oyaji. Rx I will have to say just on the drive home it was night and day. Will plate it and start driving it on Thursday (spent my mad money this week!) I prefer manuals but I was pleasantly surprised with the ability to switch the OD off when wanted. I will tweak the torsion to level it up a bit and throw on the bigger skins soon, I am trying to work a deal with the guy who had/has the '86 here locally which has the 16" rims and 32"s. Either way new windshield and rubber and head for the mountains!

The answer to your first question is yes, OME coils will lift the rear an inch and a half or so. You may find a torsion bar crank won't completely level it. Even after trimmming the upper bump stops and cranking the t-bars 1/4 inch from the trimmed uppers, I was still nose down. Gen2 UCA's fixed that.
1990 Monty LS 3.0 A/T LWB. KYB front shocks, OME rears and coils. 33x10.5 BFG Muds. 5.29, 2.85, RD110, RD46. 2 bouncys. Aisins. Monte Disco swaybar disconnects. GenII t-arms, idler arm, UCA's, V45W front brakes. 2in BL.

Thanks for the info. I think for now I will tweak the torsion bars and if it is still nose down I could always carrier around about 9000lbs. of gear like Rx.........that should level it out <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

genII UCA's really help a lot with the camber and clearance of bumpstop when you adjust the torsion bar. plus ball joint flip and inserting spacers to the ball joint will also help.
caution though, some people say that bj flip is dangerous as the balljoint doesnt have a secondary support, so if ever you;re wheeling hard and the ball decides to pop, nothing will be there to catch it. personally ive had 15mm spacers and the bj flip for more than a year now without problems. but then again i dont wheel "that" hard.
