Previous Thread Next Thread Print Thread Rate Thread oil leak #897218 07/24/08 04:22 PM Joined: May 2008 Posts: 29 Arizona H HuntingRig OP Getting the Wheeling Fever I put a new rebuilt 22RE in my 87 4runner and it runs great but I have a small oil leak coming from one of the bolts on my oil pump. USA 4Crawler Web Wheeler I had a similar leak on mine, I think I found two issues, one was that I had the wrong length bolt in one or two locations. Other than the front oil seal, this is the only place oil can come out. Since the o-ring is between the oil and that particular bolt hole, I would have to venture that it is wore out or crimped. The o-ring is fragile and not always easy to handle when putting the oil pump housing on. A fine coating of vaseline, or even oil can help the o-ring stay in place while the housing is installed.
