Need a Spot
Recently my rear passenger door lock quit working properly. When trying to unlock the doors from drivers door (both manually and with the key) the rear passenger side knob will only come about halfway up. I can only pull the knob up about halfway manually also. With the door being locked, I can't get the inside panel off. Any suggestions?

It really sounds mechanical vs. electric.

You should remove the door panel so as to give it a full inspection. I really don't think you have a way around this. Look for phillip screws holding the door panel. Can't remember if there was two or just one. One for sure on the inner door handle. After removing the screws, and the window molding piece, then carefully "pop off" the panel.

You may have to cut/taer through that plastic sound wrap stuff (so as to access the problem)---- just replace it later.

Make sure the inside door handle is all the way in. The return spring gets loose from age and if the handle is not flush you will not be able to pull up the lock.

Same thing happened to mine, the linkage was all dirty, all you need to do is take the linkage out and clean and lube it and it will work like new. It is possible to take the door panel off with the door closed. Just a thought here, you could take it to a stereo shop to have them fit it for new front speakers and they will pull the inner panel for you. While it's off you could perform the work and then tell them you are not interested because it's going to cost too much. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I was able to pull the panel and clean up & lube all the linkages, works great again. BigR61 you nailed this one! It was only a 1 cocktail job though.
