Sunbrella is a good material. We use it on our boat. Its like a light canvas. Here is a link to the waterproof sunbrella. This company has anything you'd need to make a snap on top. they have all kinds of snaps, dot fasteners, twist locks ect. web page

Sail Cloth, check with a local automotive interior man.

check with local boat shops and custom soft top shops. they may even have a customer's old top that's trail rig material but not show car material.
when looking for a container to hold drained brake fluid, find a container that is different from the beverage you are currently consuming.
