hey long story short i bought a 88 4runner and the blinkers and hazards dont work. the kid told me that its the flasher switch. and i grabed one from a junkyard. and now the hazards work but the blinkers dont.. is it a bad switch? or do you have to take it from a 4wd truck... the one i got is from a 2wd around the same year... any help would be great!

The switches are the same for either 2wd or 4wd, and as long as t was from the same generation rig you should be fine.
Have you checked the FSM(at the top of the forum) for tips/hints, the '85 FSM should work for the '88.
You could still have other issues with the blinker switch in the steering column, I think the flasher is on its own system.

There is an 88 FSM here Scroll down till you see your year vehicle. Takes a few to download, but worth every second. You need Adobe to view the pdf file.

This stuff is awesome on muffler bearings, too, but I can't find a flexible funnel long enough to reach them. I've heard of people drilling a hole through the floor pan over the converter to make it easier, but I'm not willing to go that far.
