check tranny light comes on and goes into limp mode. ive checked the voltage for the battery when the truck is off and when its under a load. ive even started the truck and took the negative battery terminal off and its still runs at idle. im tranny not to set it on fire....lol.....but i got this feelin that its something small and right in front of my face but i cant find it. its a 1994 rodeo with the 4l30e. i have no clue what it could be. its a solid truck with no rust and i hate to see it just sit there. could it be something gettin hot and triggering the light to come on?? is there any hope for me???

Could be alternator, battery, grounds, electrical connections, etc. The first thing to do is to get a load test on the alternator and battery. Have you had the codes pulled? Could also be sensors. Probably something external rather then internal. A good shop should be able to diagnose quickly.

yea....i tested the battery volts and they where fine and tested them again under a load and the numbers were fine. started the truck and took the negative terminal off and it ran fine at idle. my shops got a OBDII scanner and the only reason i didnt use it was that i thought it wouldnt read a OBDI code. so ima gonna try that. now i read that some people who had this problem mentioned something about a ranger sensor goin bad. now the ranger sensors we have at the shop are right there by the shifter knob. so where is it located??? are there any other simple tests i can use until i pull the codes <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/mrt.gif" alt="" /> what grounds on the truck can check
