I thought I would let you guys know about my experience at CVI in Richmond. I brought my Pajero in for some general maintenance to resolve some smoking issues. The owners name is Butch, who I found out has alot experience in the Philipines with a tuning shop/garage. He also had the contract to rebuild the injection pumps for all Mitsu diesels. So I knew I was in good hands, he suggested we do the "Delica Tune" named because the majority of his business is from the Delica community. In the tune they checked the injection timimg, calibrated the valve clearances and cleaned the injectors using an ultra sonic machine. Butch took the time to bring me over to see the injectors spray pattern before and after the cleaing. It was cool to see an owner that passionate about what he does and willing to take the time and show me what he was doing to my ride. So when the vehicle was all back together, I drove 1 hour north to Squamish on the Sea to Sky. I noticed more power, it didn't lag on some of the hills it used to. So that was great news, Butch said that it should improve my fuel economy as well. Usually more power = less fuel economy and therefore I didn't have huge expectations. I tracked my mileage for the last few weeks and I have seen about a 15 km increase over a an average 75 litres of fuel. So not bad by my standards, considering the power increase. BTW the tune cost $300 and by my calculations it should pay for itself in about 15 tanks. I think we (Vancouverites) are lucky to have guys like Butch and his right hand man Edwin around.

I've heard great stuff about them, too. My Paj will be going into CVI for a tune/oil change/timing service this month, since I finally have enough in the truck budget for some big items.
Good to hear the tune was worth it. My engine has been a bit laggy lately, so I'm really looking forward to getting it back to top shape soon!

I am now officially a Pajero owner. .

Butch and Edwin are fantastic! I took mine in May when I was down and after 800 bucks, all issues were resolved. New glow plugs, timing set, injectors cleaned and tolerances set also they replaced a CV boot and were honest about everything. I asked them to change both outer CV boots if they needed replacement and they told me that the passenger side one was still good. I did the thing one should never do; I told them to do everything that needed to be done as I was unavailable for a week. They only did what was necessary and didn't give it to me dry . I was thrilled with their service and to top it off, Butch called me while on the 16 hour trip home to make sure all of the repairs met my expectations and all was well. To date, I am getting very little smoke, smooth operation, easy starts and approx 50km more per tank. The economy has actually improved over the last few monthes to that since there was almost no difference when I left the shop. Too bad those guys aren't in the Calgary area.
