On the back of the 3.0 there is a coolant sensor tower with 3 or 4 sensors. One is a blue one with 2 vacuum lines going to it. What happens when you break it and have to go without for a while?
Currently I have the 2 lines running into each other.

Just a guess but that sounds like the BVSV my '85/22RE has that is a coolant temperature activated vacuum switching valve that sends intake vacuum to the EGR modulator. Basically there to prevent EGR operation when the engine is cold and allow it when it heats up. Later engines used an ECU-controlled VSV to do that same function. Not real familiar with the V6 engines, so it may be something else. See what the lines connect.

I beleive its some sort of idle up valve or something for your power steering. I broke mine and ran without it for months, diddnt even know it was broken, no side effects.

so should the lines be attached together or plugged?

Id plug them. Either just jam a bolt into the line, or trace the line and find where it hooks up to, and put a vacuum cap instead of the line.

You are asking about the sensors on the back of the engine. Looking at my FSM there is only one that looks like it has vacuum lines on it and it has nothing to do with idle up. It is a BVSV, one line comes from the charcoal canister and the other goes to a purge port on the throttle body. It is part of the emission system. It must open up when the engine reaches operating temperature and sucks the fumes out of the C.C.

Yep, what Oops said.... This is a Bevis valve. I broke mine aways back and spliced the line together. As I remember looking up the specs, it opens around 100 degrees. Living in Phoenix, I figured mine was open most of the time anyway...... I picked on up at You Pull it for 2 bucks but it's a ***** to get to, so i'll replace it the next time the intake is off. I've noticed no difference without it.
