can you guys post some ways to gain some HP out of the 2.0 engine? I only have the SOHC head, and I think I might've found another junked kia with a DOHC head on it.. would it fit? and if it did, would I get a good boost in HP? I'm looking to get around 50+ HP without breaking my 'lil' budget; the power I got now isn't cuttin' it one bit.

According to KIA these are the power output specs of the two engines

95' 1.9L SOHC 94 HP @ 5,000 rpm; 114 ft lb @ 2,500 rpm

01' 2.0L DOHC 130 HP @ 5,500 rpm; 127 ft lb @ 4,000 rpm

Add a CAI/cone filter for another 5hp, delete the mechanical fan and instal an electric one for another 5-7hp and open up the exhaust for around a 10% increase if done right so 10-15hp there. You can also chip it but not sure on the gain there.

i dont think you could just swap in the head,you would need to swap in the entire top end. it would be easier to just swap in the entire DOHC motor IMO. it should just drop straight in.

yeah, it doesn't swap directly. got the info from the head gasket numbers on the SOHC head gasket and the DOHC head gasket, the numbers didn't match.

If you realy want to gain HP on your SOHC a Ford Probe exhaust manifold will bolt right up. If you found a good Probe turbo and manifold for cheap you might be able to make it work. You will have to find a way to clock the turbo to clear the motor mounts but it might work. Other than that you can try all the old reliable stuff. a good open air filter like a K&N, a 2 1/4" exhaust with a quality turbo muffler like a MagnaFlow or Flow Master, and convert your clutch fan to an electric. All this might be good for a 15 to 25 HP, not quite the 50 but every little bit helps. No body makes kit for any of this but if you are handy most of this stuff is posted here on the Wire.

where could I get the 2 1/4'' exhaust? I will have to make it myself right? or is there any place that does?

any compitant exhaust shop can build you an exhaust, or its fairly simple to do yourself.

yeah I've got the tools and the knowledge to do so. that's another project for me now! I guess I'll start with building my body lift first though..
