Getting the Wheeling Fever
hey guys.. Is there any tricks to getting the pilot bearing out of a 22re fuel injected 4cylinder toyota motor? I have tried many things to no avail... i have the motor out because I'm doing a swap, and am putting a clutch in while its out.
Thanks in advance, Anthony

Pieces of wet newspaper. Stuff it in the bearing hole. When you cant get any more in, pound a bolt thru the bearing hole. Make sure the bolt or whatever is about the same diameter as the hole. That pressure will exert force to pop the bearing out towards you. Some guys use grease, but that stuff is too messy to clean up!

>>>*One thing, wear safety glasses. When you smack the drift, it builds a lot of hydraulic pressure that can spurt out and for some reason grease or even water seems to know where your eyes are.

Pick up a can of PB Blaster. It's the best stuff in the world. I had a pilot bearing on this same truck that was seized in place. I had a bearing puller on a slide hammer that wouldn't budge it. WD40 didn't help either. I even attached a come-along to the bearing puller, and it still wouldn't budge. Picked up a can of PB Blaster, soaked it down, and 5 minutes later, it popped right out.
