Getting the Wheeling Fever

Can the idler arm bushings be replaced on the vehicle or do I need to take the unit off? Is a press needed to replace/install these bushings?

you do not have to pull the joint (idler arm stud to steering link) apart. you can take the body off the shaft. leave the shaft attached to the steering link... less work and potentially ruining the rubber.
