It is hard to tell from the pic, other than the rust and what looks like a torn grease boot. Is there any play in it, or with the wheels on and the front off the ground can you move the tires in and out w/o moving the idler arm or the rest of the steering linkage, except for the pitman?
More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else. '90 X-cab 4.88's 33 BFG AT's, rr ARB, Headers, Ignition upgrade, cold air induction. '91 X-cab 5.29's 315's BFG MT's, rr ARB, custom bumper and flatbed

tires don't move when I get them off the ground - just that boot is torn. I am a trained monkey that needs to ask before attempting anything new.

If there is a zirk fitting or bolt(where a zirk fitting would go), you could hit it with some grease, and change it out later. It is basically up to you and what you want to do.
W/o the boot the joint is exposed to the elements which will cause it to wear out sooner, but with everything still tight, it isn't something that has to be done right now.

I am a trained monkey that needs to ask before attempting anything new. You still in school at Dooooook? That 'splains it, lol. Like above, I'd grease it and let it wait until money and time aren't so tight, and you have another reason to be messing in there anyway. Maybe could have justified it when you took off teh tie rod, but prob not now. And don't forget - you prob need an alignment now.

So no money and no time - must fix what must absolutely be fixed so I don't die (like an inner tie rod end that was about to fall apart ) And I did actually dig deep and shell out the $ for an alignment - the most expensive part need to get back to saving the world PS - even a trained money like me can tell the difference between Wallace Wade and what is it called... kenan memorial stadium
