I am not sure if anyone of us who has made our own beds actually drew up plans, or if they are even available through retailers. I sketched out what I wanted it to look like on paper, then moved on from there. Retailers will sell you a DIY kit, but I don't think they will sell you the plans. I had another post but the pics wont load, maybe the host site no longer exists. I have more detailed pics of the build process that I can email you if you are interested.

One thing to remember is you don't have to go w/heavy gauge, you can get the same strength out of lighter gauge steel w/support and not weigh the rig down with unnecessary weight. Sure 1/4"(.250) sounds more solid than .095 when hitting it with a wrench, or stronger when discussing it with friends, but at more than twice the weight, in the long run it isn't worth it.
