I ran around the junkyard yesterday and found all sorts of goodies. One thing that I found was 2-door Montero with a schnazzie rear seat. For a while now I've been thinking it would be cool to throw a 3rd row into the back. When I saw the seat, I gave myself a mission to accomplish. Here are some pics of the seat after the install:

I only used the far-forward bolt holes on the forward cargo loop thingees. Otherwise, all the holes are new. I used a combination of high-strength bolts and washers to complete the job.

The space in between the 3rd and 2nd row is tight for someone with a shoe size around 10 or more. It's ideal for kids though.

Looks good. Did the same a few years ago for my Bro. Once thing we didn't do was explore a three-point belt. Check behind the side panel and see if there is a spot to mount the belts. There is on a SWB. I'm pretty sure there us a plug up high above the rear window that hides the spot for the top of the belt. If there is a spot behind the panel, source out belts from a 90 (I think 89 ,too) SWB.

I may end up with a Gen I LWB as I think I need more room over the SWB. If I do, I'll likely use the Gen II 3rd rows in my SWB. I like head rests...

That looks great! I've been wanting to do something like that for a while. I'm just a lazy <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> and haven't gotten around to it. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Awsome job! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Did you use existing hole in the floor or did you drill new holes?

Looks like he used mostly new holes. Cool <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> install. Real clean too. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

One thing that I'm squirming about now is the loss of cargo space. I think that I've found a remedy though. There's a pin on both sides of the hinge point. When looking at the seat folded forward you can see them. When I don't need the seats I'll just pull the pins then grab the seat and be on my marry way. The only problem is that, right now, the pin heads (no pun intended) face the wheels. I'll have to unbolt the seat to swap the pins around so the heads point inward. This way I can keep the seat out until needed. I hate doing things more than once! Surely I'll learn... then again, I doubt it!
