well, i was supprised, but after transplanting the motor and transmission from one trooper to the other, i was able to fire it up on the first crank! i have only run it a handfull of times, checking the oil level and such in between. im a little leary because i have no experiance doing this. - the gas light is on, even though i have 1/2 tank? -the battery light is on(new battery), maybe a bad connection, or maybe the alternator? -water in filter light, and the hand pump wont work. -brake light is on. maybe vacuum? after i turn it off, i hear air escaping from a little "deally-bob"right bellow the fuse box, that has wiring plugs, and the vacuum hoses, and a little black cap? the vacuum setup is the haziest area of the project because the vehicles had a different system from one another.the good body also has cruise controll(im uing the cable from the donor vehicle, so the cruise setup is just coiled up for now) well, that is my report, if anyone has any advise, i wont be offended - fox

today, i swapped the fuel filter housing from the other truck because the hand pump didnt work,i put my new filter on it, and used a temp tank to draw from. my light still says water in fuelso i rigure curtis might be right? of course i know nothing about auto electrics. when i look under the dash, i have located what i think is all the b.s. to do with the cruise controll, and am considering carefully removing it to help my little brain decipheer the rest of whats under there. then look in the book to find whats up with the elusive ground wire. i still havent gotten oil pressure much past 5 pounds. i looked at the sending unit from napa and they wanted 50 bucks to get it to me! i might try putting the one from the other motor at that rate.some friends have suggested that there might be a screan at the pump that could be glogged? thanks again....fox

I just got mine running too. Even when it ran 8 years ago the oil pressure gauge read low (except when cold). I suggest running a manual gauge and mount it under the dash. I want to have an auxiliary oil pressure, volts and maybe pyrometer gauges installed. A lot of the ground wires are black w/ yellow stripe. Check the battery ground wire at both ends VERY closely. This must be solid and secure. Start there. Cheersù Mar'

as i mentioned, the oil pressure turned out to be a loose wire. i still havea bunch of lights on on the dash, water in fuel(with new, clean fuel being drawn from a can), battery, brake, and gas. as well as the heater blower and dome light being out. fuses are all good. i have been searching under the dash and all around, for any loose wires or bad connections. i removed the cruise controll, and that was a nice improvement, way easier to see. after looking at every post in the archives i came accross this http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showf...p;amp;sb=5&o=all&fpart=1 post number1013055 in case the link doesnt work, in wich a fellow from over seas with the newer td was having all the same simptoms, and was advised to check the regulater pack on the alternater.his response was positive. as i dont know a lot about it, i would ask if this jives with what you all know about our c223td troopers? thanks for any response, any input is helpfull to me

well, i swapped the alternater out "just for fun" and strangly enough the dome light seems to work now, but the heater blower, and all the dash lights are still on. i havent had any kuck finding any loose grounds. if anyone can point me in the right dirrection, i have half the dash off, and can see mostr of the wiring harness.

Do you have a good chassis ground? I assume your battery ground goes to the engine? If you don't have a engine to chassis ground, it will show symptoms like you have.
A quick check is a set of jumper cables hooked from the engine to the body.

hey paul, thanks for the reply. the neg. lead goes from the battery, to the battery tray, and then two spots on the motor. i just went out and put a cable from the neg. terminal to various parts of the body, and then from the engine to various parts of the body with no success in making those lights go off. did you follow the thing about the alternater, regulator pack?? you seem to know a fair amount about motors? thanks again.....fox
