I need some help identifying a potential replacement for my Japanese Mitsubishi Jeep. I have a 1991 Mitsu Jeep, made to the specs of a 59 Willys. It is said to have a Dana 30 front axel. I have a torn CV boot and need to find out if this was available locally on other Jeeps, Scouts ect...

Excuse my ignorance for the proper terms, dust cover? CV boot? not to sure what to call it. Have look here:

Should look like this:

Looks like a jeep to me, sure.

Dana 30 did not exist till 1972 in a jeep steering axle.
66 in Early broncos and scouts.
1959 d 30 Nope.
Pre 1966 they were called dana25, post D27 in the closed knuckle trunnion bearing style.

That is a japanese based axle in a japanese vehicle on a jeep forum?

Jeep *****, what is the difference, they both start with J.
You did need some ragging, sorry.

That is called a steering knuckle wiper seal, they come as a kit from a Mitsu dealer. The whole outer including the knuckle needs to be taken apart to fix it. If you have more than 80-90k miles on it, get a trunnion bearing kit too, with a shim pack to adjust preloads.

I figured I would get flamed a bit, I think my Signature pic is throwing off some of the readers... that is my Pajero (Montero in the US) My Jeep looks like this:
For the record it is licensed by Jeep and is branded JEEP but has a Mitsu 2.7L Turbo diesel.
