I know this has been discussed before but i cannot find it.

I just received my brand new head and it says "22R/22RE head"

I thought there was a difference- I need the RE.

Thanks-

1985 to 1995 R-RE are the same.

With RE, you use the block off plate for where the R style Fuel Pump inserts.

Short answer, yes, to include the years Stace cites. Also, if looking at a junker head, you'll see it has the fuel pump closeout plate for the EFI.

If it's a carbed head, you'll have the cam wheel (smooth) on the front of the camshaft that the fuel pump flipper would ride on. Just move the closeout plate onto that head; optional whether to remove the fuel pump cam wheel and replace it with the spacer off your old head. You take the front camshaft bolt off to do so.

okay, i talked to the place. they said that all the heads are for 1985-on 22R and RE.
they don't sell heads for the older style 22R engines.

Brand new head with cam and valvetrain for $295. Let me know if anyone wants the info. shipped in 3 days for $335 total.

thanks everyone-
