A guy here has one for sale. Has 300+miles on it. He says for every 10 miles it shows 17? and on trip meter it shows 13! Is this even possible? He had it on ebay-but it didn't sell.

If he has a different tire size by alot it will do that.

13/10 is 30% ... 17/10 is 70% ... these errors ... would mean the truck is one of those ground scraper dealies....
The odo is full of gears, both driven off the same input, the error on the trip meter should be equal to the error on the main odometer.

Comparing vs my other vehicles and using GPS / measured miles on highway markers I find my T100 reads 'high' by as much as 4% vs actual. I have factory 31" tires.
No way 30% - 70% is possible unless he has itty bitty wheels on the thing.
Sure smells like a used car dealer's pitchline . . .

I've got 30's (I think) on mine - not sure if they are factory as I bought it at 60K - and mine runs 5% *low*. I've compared it to mile markers on long highway trips and with a GPS. If the odo says 100, I've gone 105. If the speedo says 70, I'm really doing about 74. [It doesn't help that my wife's van is about 5% off the other way, especially when we have to caravan...] That's led me to believe that the factory gears were set up for smaller tires? It is a 2WD and I've seen a lot that looked smaller. I guess that means I didn't really just turn over 200K, that happened about 10 months ago!

He now has 33's on it -but is trying to say it's been way off from start. may lowball offer him something. Truck is nice looking in pics he sent me... I'm trying to replace my monty. Tough act to follow.

Yea.. if you cant get an inspection done make a salvage offer! Its been off from the start? 33's would make it count low.. And at the start, there was a warranty on the thing You didnt mention how the speedometer counts, it should be an equal error to the odometer. Admittedly with toyotas parts prices it is not worth replacing the odometer.

Says speedo is correct with 33's. Just ODO and trip reading 17 and 13 for every 10 miles.?????

The speedo cannot be correct with 33's, impossible unless gears were changed.
Have you personally driven this truck yet? Find a GPS and set it up when you drive it.
