Need a Spot
Hi all

Need some info on replacing a front wheel stud.
The stud came loose real easy.

But I cannot remove from what i guess is the wheel hub casting .
I have removed the six bolts which in effect hold the brake disc in position and have removed the six allen bolt that hold on the hub cover and the c clip.

The castin will not come off.

where do i go from here.

Thanks in advance

Not sure what a "castin" is, unless you are fishing.

But the entire hub needs to come off of the spindle. Just like if you were repacking the front wheel bearings. there is a big nut behind a retaining washer in the end of the hub. Once the hub is off, you can get to the wheel studs.

If you are doing one, you might as well do all of the studs on that hub. It might save you some headache in the future.

Good Luck,
Michael

Not the best picture, but....

You can see the pieces you need to remove. The circular piece full of holes (I think the technical term for this part is "circular piece full of holes") is held in by three small screws. These are very tight and you'll need an impact driver to loosen them most likely.

The hub nut (circular piece on the inside - has two notches) can be removed by tapping on the opposite notches with a screwdriver. You can also use the "special tool" (I bought mine for $20 or so). Once removed, the entire hub will come off the spindle.

Good luck!
