Getting the Wheeling Fever
I just used the heat today for the 1st time since last winter and I noticed a coolant smell coming out of the heater vents, is that normal??

Also, immediatly after i shut my car off I heard a beeping noise(sounded like when your cell phone batter gets low) and I could not figure out where it came from, the computer would not make an occasional noise like that would it?

Check the carpet and floorboard on the passanger side for coolant leak from the heater core.. Simply using the heater would NOT cause a leak as the coolant flows thru it at all times.. However using it will flow the incoming air over the core and give you the smell of coolant if there is a leak...small or large.

Body Damage is Cool
Regarding the coolant smell... I agree with BJ. You have a coolant leak in your heater. If it's a large leak, you'll have coolant on your floorboard. It it's a really small leak, the air through the heater may be evaporating it (and carrying the small into the passenger compartment) before it can leak out of the heater assembly.

Regarding the beeping... It may help the super mechanics on this forum if they knew what year and model of vehicle you're talking about!
