Body Damage is Cool
I ask this from a position of not knowing what the differences are between the two motors with regards to electronics ans systems like variable cam timing that might need to be controlled by the electronics.

So why not drop in a 5vzfe where a 3vze once lived and run the 5vze with the 3vze wiring and electronics. I know there are logistical problems, like the fact that many major components, like the air flow meter, may be on opposite sides of the vehicle. -- Matts

Matt, you might want to go back up to the 4x4wire portal and read the 3.0 to 3.4 conversion article we wrote and check out the electrical portion.

And yes, all of it's flipflopped in the engine compartment.

BTW, a special thanks goes to the folks who posted their conversion experience here in order for us to consolidate info for this article; yer all awesome and generous.

I highly doubt it. Totally different motors. MAF vs AFM, distributorless ignition with coil packs vs regular distributor, 5vz has a crank sensor and cam sensors

Really the only thing the 2 motors share in any way is the blocks.

It wouldn't work..... different sensors, different wire connectors, the engine controls work differently.....

If nothing else, the 3VZE has a distributor and the 5VZFE has crank trigger ignition, which means the CPU's are set up entirely different for ignition.
