why pay that kind of jack for a battery when you can go to checker and get a 72 month with a progressive warrenty for about $75. here in ut we have all the high and low extremes, ive only a a couple of cold cranking issues and each time ive just gone in and used that progressive warrenty. if youve got a good charging system, imho, a big old fancysmanchy battery is overrated.

If you do a lot of offroading I'd suggest an optima. They come in starting or deep cycle, they're leak proof, vibration and shock resistant, and they last way longer than a normal battery. A warranty is great, but when your battery dies 20 miles into the bush it doesn't mean crap.

Just came home from buying two yellow tops (my truck has duals, oe). They are smaller than the oe ones. Do some reading online - AGM batteries have a lot of advantages over wet cells. But it depends on how you want to use it.

I've had one Optima red top for 11 years almost, it's been in numerous trucks that I've had during that time, now powers our '05 GMC crew after the Delco 84-month went 32, sucker.

I've heard from a few parts guys that quality issues exist with the red tops due to excess demand by the US military...opinion or fact I can't confirm. There are numerous posts elsewhere about the Yellow tops, Pirate for example.

I'm sold on my old Optima and will be buying some more, gotta' support my Fleet.

I have a yellow top for the past 4 yrs now, no problems and have extensive wiring to it too (correctly done I might add, for those worried)

x2 You'll spend 3 times more on a battery if you have to get a tow truck out to get ya.

Optimas are good unless you run them dead they dont recharge very well. Autolite batterys from kragen or checkers dont last very long for me im on my 3rd one in the last 1 1/2. I like the duralst gold and interstate batterys.

Optimas don't like to charge fast when you kill them. Leave it on trickle overnight and you're good to go though.

So True.

Only bad point i know of about the Optima i have in my Truck:

It seems to discharge quickly if the alarm is armed!

Solved that by Starting it up every week without fail

Ditto on the autozombie Duralast Gold. 5yr non-prorated warranty. Walked in with a 4.5yr old Gold from then daughter's 91lwb, and walked out with all my money still in my pocket and a brand new Gold. I used the unspent jack to buy a jump box with air compressor.

AND, I carry 4' of romex and an 18v DeWalt battery...
