 whirring sound

Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
it just developed recently as i have this whirring sound coming from the fuel pump of my 4d56t. when i turn on the a/c (idles up to 900rpm) the pitch is higher and louder but when i step on te accelerator past 1k rpm it "seems" like thre is no whirring sound. what could this be?

I had a bit of a "whistle" due to an air leak from around the sensor in the intercooler which sits right above the fuel pump.
1991 Mitsubishi Pajero XP TD LWB family hauler.

Make sure your belts are tight. I have to tighten my alt. belt every few months otherwise it will do what you describe below 1000 rpm, rev it up and it goes away.

I had a bit of a "whistle" due to an air leak from around the sensor in the intercooler which sits right above the fuel pump. sorry im one of the few who doesn;t have intercoole, but i;ve also checked the vacuum lines in that area.. no leaks. thanks for the info

Make sure your belts are tight. I have to tighten my alt. belt every few months otherwise it will do what you describe below 1000 rpm, rev it up and it goes away. good idea, i;ve never thought of the the belts as there is no squeal. will check the a/c belt in that area.
