So I am underneath my Pajero tonight greasing all the grease points and when I try to turn the front driveshaft it does not turn... IF I remember correctly if I am in 2wd should this shaft not be able to turn? With the center axle disconnect open that side should be able to turn, right? So the front shaft should turn right???

Alright so now I know how it works. With the engine off, there is no vacuum applied to the solenoid, so the front axle is engaged. As soon as I turn on the engine it makes vacuum and the solenoid disengages. So to grease front driveshaft start engine. The hunt for my vibration continues. I had the tires balanced. I used my infrared thermometer to check out the rear wheel bearings to see if any are hot, no problem there... Maybe I have a bad tire. I am looking for a rumble that I can feel above 40 kph, sure is frustrating.... I wonder if the rear driveshaft needs balancing. I changed the rear u-joints as one was notchy. Front wheel bearings are new. Anyone got any ideas?

Doug, guess it *could* still be your rear ds. Maybe try this - throw some weight in the back, to change the angle. If your rumble changes tone, it could point to your rear ds? I'd be surprised if it was though, since they're so short... I woulda guessed ujoint, but you've eliminated that?

If it only appears above 40mph, I'd guess something rotating. Out of round tire?

Hi Tom; it is more of a higher speed vibration. It may be just a tire vibration problem. I might ask to borrow a set of tires for 1/2 hour to see if the problem goes away. That is if you still have the paj?

i do...i love that thing My tires need to go back to retailer to sort out some problems, so they may not be a good set to use.

I've got 4 worn out 30" bfg AT's on Nissan rims sitting at home.
You can try them to see if it's your tires.

I may have to take you up on that one. I have determined the vibration is coming from the axles somewhere, because when I soften up the shocks i feel much less vibration than when I set the shocks to hard. It is either wheel bearings or tires. I am assuming it is not the driveshafts as the front doesnt turn normally, and if it was the rear why would the vibration change with the shock setting? Anyone else got any idea's?
