Just wondering if anyone knows how small of a radiator I can use for the 3.0L V6. Just picked up a new project and the front clip doesn't have room for the stock radiator, it's been tubed and 3-linked so the front of the frame has been raised. I REALLY don't want to deal with the hassle of a rear mounted radiator and there isn't a ton of room for the plumbing with everything that's already there.

Thinking of something along there lines:

Not exactly sure which size, but it will be smaller than stock. Anyone have the same issues or know how small I can go?

The rig will always be trailered, and trail vehicle only.

I couldnt tell you exactly how small you can go, but a aluminum radiator supposedly cools better than a copper/brass radiator, so you might be able to get away with the one you posted.

Do you have a local radiator shop?, they may be able to build you something that will fit in the space you have. I would think you would want the new radiator to hold the same amount of water as the oem one does, and will likely need to go w/an electric fan.

More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I put an aluminum radiator on mine similar to that one, but it was a little larger but not much. That one is 3" thick...much thicker than the stock brass/copper rad. I would say that would work fine. My fan clutch is so worn out (it's actually a fan/clutch from a 22r) that you can probably stop the fan with your finger while it's running. It cools great though....its my belief that I could stand outside the truck while its running and just blow on the radiator and it would be enough to stay cool. I like the side to side flow better too.

You can go on ebay and find one alot cheaper. Also, the one pictured on the link is backwards for the 3.0....look for one that will fit a Ford. One of the only manufacturers with the inlet/outlet reversed. Should be able to find one in the $150 range. You can also find the metal flex hoses on ebay too...you'll probably need those. Nice shiny chrome-looking hoses adds a couple of extra horsepower <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />
