Ditto on the cam plugs very leaky, they get brittle and crack and shrink and let oil run all down the back of the engine.

I like my 95sr very much. It's gone everwhere I asked it to, and it went where a swb lsd went with no trouble. It fixes all the stuff that bugged me on the gen1lwb. It cruises as fast as you want to on the highway with no sweat. The rear locker is sweet. The activetrak is sweet, but needs the switches and tcase toys rewired so you can lock the center diff when you want to and stuff. Mine smogs out the world in prolonged idle with leaky stem seals at 156k. It's a mostly fixed front right wreck, with everything working but the fogs, and I paid 3600 with 120k on the clock and almost no smoke, and added 31-1050 GY at's.

The seats rock. Stock sound is ok. Gauges are too dim in daylight, and worse in cloud/dusk light. Only thing that broke is the power antenna that I raked off in the woods, and I made a gen1steel whip antenna fit with the fender bezel parts from the power ant. Thanks, Frank. Oh, yeah, the dside outside mirror rattles in the housing if it's been hand tweaked, and may or may not be fixable depending if they broke the little prong or not. Biotch ot fiddle with, too.

Id buy a clean one at 4k'ish...

I would not be afraid of that leak. I would consider the engine is due for a full service. Belt, rollers, tensioner, water pump, cam seals and gaskets. It is a 4 to 5K mistake to ignore the service on the DOHC.
6K to me is a bit steep especially since a proper service may cost 1K.
I am quite happy with my 95 SR. One year now with it. I got it cheap with a bad set of heads. Built up an engine my own way and am close to 10K on the clock with it. My wife has most of those miles. Many of the miles are with a medium load in hilly terrain. Called Mountains here but little hills to the guys out west. There are a few things I complain about on it but I am a bit picky compared to most.

Cheers, Charlie

Chris, I haven't seen the posts that were deleted. I think you were just being feisty, lack on a Montero/Raider and all. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
