Well worth the shipping on his frame if you wanna keep with the Montero. I think Ky and PA may have you beat on being salt capitol . Ky is mainly from stupidity and inbreeding.

Mines like 20 year old and hasn't form a flake of rust since I left KY.
Lots of rust free stuff here. Folk back there sould get ahode of me to find small suff , I'm a junk yard dog.

im just trying to figure out my options, im what would be considered in poverty lol, i make less than 10k a year, so in terms of parts and labor im kind of screwed.
this is my baby, and i dont want to have to get rid of her.
what would average price for a non rusted chassis run?
and about what would i be looking at in terms of getting engine/trans swapped over?

This would be best a do it yourselfer or find a shadetree mechanic to help. Hope you have other transportation 'cause this will take awhile.
Maybe you could have some braces welded on .

Removal involves a forlift or overhead which to swap bodies.
You have to disconect fuel lines , brake lines , unplug wiring harnesses ,,, etc. etc. ,,,a cherry picker to drop the engine in ,,transmission jack ,,,, alot of stuff,,,good luck,,,I hate rust...

i checked it out, its only really bad one the drivers side, and it appears that it was a bad weld that rusted out.
i may just cut grind and have someone weld a re inforcement onto it...

The lack of replies is not a bad thing, necessarily. The program you're on to fix a bad chassis is either replacement or extensive fabrication, that's all. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />

Need a Spot
i have a 1990 with two holes in it but i got it welded up with 3/16ths steel then undercoated the whole thing. It seems to hold up well but i might get the whole frame reinforced in a year or so
