Hi folks. Does anybody know how the throttle control cable gets taken out? Do I have to drop the pan covering the transmission filter to get at it? Do I have to lower the tranny? Also, has anyone ever repaired the wiper arm assembly after the post on the passenger side has seized? I tried to get one out of the only junked Raider around here and it was seized the exact same way as mine. I did scoop the driver's side post off of it though. I was hoping that they might be inter-changeable. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Can't offer any suggestions on the throttle cable, but ... on the wipers, yeah, I can.

I "rebuilt" both of the wiper assy's on my 91. Once you get the wiper motor off. You have to remove the nuts holding the wiper assy's to the cowling. Once they are out of the truck it's pretty easy to use a brass punch and knock the seized parts loose. A generous spray of P-B Blaster or BG's In-FORCE. Once free and clean, a little light grease and reassemble. Actually, the whole process only took a couple of hours (I know, I know, I'm slow, but I'm old!!!). That was several years ago and things are still working great. Good luck!

You have to drop the pan on the tranny but not much else. You have to disco the throttle valve cable from the throttle valve arm. To do that, you have to pry out the two hard lines, take off the filter screen, remove the 17 valve body bolts, pull up the corner of the valve body and unhook the cable end, pull the valve body out, and drive out the cable retainer from the tranny case with a 10mm socket. Install new cable, rehook, put the valve body bolts back in, put the hard lines and filter back in, and use a new gasket on the pan. This is a job I might leave to tranny shop, as stuff can fall out, like accumulator pistons and valve balls and such, especially when working on your back in unfamiliar territory.

Thanks for the help. I got them out and was able to replace the seized post.

Thanks for the info and advice. I might just leave it to a tranny shop if there is the chance that things are going to drop out on me.
