So I was under the paj, greasing it tonight, and I looked at the cv shafts and I noticed the outer boot, inner clamp had come loose. So I gave the boot a squeeze and I found a source of rusty water. So do the shafts from a 92 montero fit a gen 2 paj? Any favorite inexpensive suppliers?

a while ago I checked part numbers and noticed our diesels have different part numbers for front axles...which doesn't necessarily mean Monty ones won't fit, it means mitsubishi likes to screw with our heads. I would tear your boot off and see how it looks inside, you may be able to get away with just re-greasing it and putting a new boot on. I ran for 3 months with a torn inner boot and the balls still looked like new even with the 2lbs of sand that came out of there haha.

Now I'm a little paranoid. This summer I noticed a dollop of grease on the inside of my RF wheel. Didn't see a tear when I had the wheel off looking at the breaks, but I might have to check in the morning before the weather turns cold again.

Well I ripped it apart and found it full of water and rust. I cleaned it up, first with brake clean, worked it around till I dissolved all the old grease. Then I flushed it a few times with straight brake clean. Then I used some 15 40 oil and worked it around a bunch to get the remaining water out, cleaned with brake clean, blew out with compressed air. What I found was that I had water marking on the inner race and on the bearings. So I justed greased it all up and put it back in. Rocky mountain wants 250 for a used shaft. I found a set of new shafts in australia for 250 plus whatever it takes to ship it here. I am sure that the montero outer cv is the same at least as our shafts so I will see if I can locate one on monday. Napa has no listing for our trucks. Even napa usa doesnt show a listing... Problem is it would be a pain to order one from the states and find out it doesnt fit.

well they say it wouldn't fit due to part number differences....but I ordered a CV boot for a 92 montero and it technically didn't match any JDM part number, and it fit fine. I am willing to bet that a USDM Montero front-right CV axle will fit our JDM Pajeros. I can't see them being different regardless of axle ratios. but don't quote me on that. I just don't see a reason for them to change the axle on the same truck regardless of engine.

As far as I remember, no other driveline items have turned out to be different so far.

ya...im sure a Montero axle will fit no problem. Just try and find a used axle from the USA for cheap. or I'll sell you mine for $7500 and it comes with a pajero haha.

Gen II Pajero = Gen II Montero
Gen II Montero = Gen II Pajero

All the same.

There should be a sticky Montero = Pajero drivetrain.

You can order the shafts through napa/wakefield,etc... here in canada.

... good.. bad.. I'm the guy with the gun.
