we have the cherry picker in place, it appears that everything is disconnected, but the engine is binding on something and will not come fwd enough to tip and finish. It appears to be hitting the front dif with the oil pan, and binding on the fire wall. The auto trans is still attached to the engine, the t'fer case has been removed.
Any suggestions or help will be appreciated.

Remove the front axle? Drop the trans?
I don't think it will come out with the trans attached. It may not come out even then, without dropping the front axle housing. Just unbolt the 4 bolts holding the housing onto the frame. It will then drop down a bit.
Good Luck, Michael

ARE ALL THE BELL HOUSING BOLTS REMOVED AND THEN THE LOWER DUST SHIELDS ON THE FRT OF THE TRANS BELLHOUSING , THERE ARE THREE PIECES , THESE MUST BE REMOVED AND THEN 6 TORQUE CONVERTOR BOLTS REMOVED AND THE ENG WILL SLIDE FORWARD ENOUGH TO LIFT STRAIGHT UP AND OUT , AND LEAVE THE CONVERTOR IN PLACE REMOVE THE STARTER TO MAKE GETTING AT THE CONVERTOR BOLTS MUCH EASIER , JERRY

Thanks for all the help. By the time Igot back to the list the kids had the engine out--- with the transmission attached! They removed the oil pan to clear the diff.
It now rests in the corner of the garage on an engine stand waiting for the next step -- teardown.
Do any of you think the reinstall would go better if the tranny is installed first?

Having replaced rear main seals on two Rodeo's and an Amigo, I would say the engine would be a lot easier to take out without the transmission attached. I am about to replace an engine in a 99 Rodeo, I will let you know how it goes.
'94, and '00 Amigos and '00, 01 Rodeos. Rodeo springs and aftermarket 'hard top on 94. Aisin hubs OME 919's on the 2000 Amigo. 2000 and 2001 Rodeos have OME 912's and Aisin. Smoother ride with the OME 919's???
