Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hey I have a question for you guys. I tried searching for something like it but couldn't find anything. I am looking at buying a '94 4runner with the V6 and a 5 speed. It runs pretty well but sometimes it pops out of first gear. What are some possible causes of this?

Something internal with the trans. Ive had other cars where it pops out of 5th.

Right now there is a v6 trans and transfer on cincy craigslist for $250.

Or if you can, rebuild it

Could also be something as simple as the plastic shifter seat.

I was thinking it was probably something very simple because it only has 150,000 on it and the rest of it is in very good shape. I know with front wheel drive cars when a trans pops out of gear a lot of the time it is because of an old or broken engine mount. But since these shifters go directly into the transmissions (no linkage to be jerked around) I didnt think that could be the case here.

Takes you about 20 minutes to check and rule it out
