what could be the cause of it then? it only happens sometimes and it only does it when its really cold outside, but it'll happen when then engine is hot or cold.

hmm, its winter, so that might be it. it never did it in the summer time and the fuel pump was bad then too. wires/ sensors should i be looking at? oxygen sensor in the header was replaced a couple months ago. you know what come to think of it, its the exact same rough idle that it did when the old oxygen sensor went bad. but this happened at random times. it went away for a while but now its doing it again and it happens at startup. ill half to check the connection on this one and make sure its tight in the header

i just checked the spark/ coil wires about a month ago for a lab in school and they were the same they were two years ago when i put them on. i ohmed them when i got them because the place i got them from is known for bad parts. one time we got a pack of spark plugs from them for one of the forklift motors and 5 out of the 6 plugs were used. how would i go about ohming the o2 sensor? if im thinking right i think you ohm it and then heat it up and ohm it again and it should be lower right?

Cold it shouldn't make volts. Hot should be between .85 and one volt. Check it cold first and then leave the meter attached and heat it with a propane flame. It should steady near .9 or above let it cook for a while to see if it blinks while hot... then take the heat away and the volts should go away.. I'd heat it 4 or 5 times in a row to see if it does the same thing time after time. Remember it is located in a very hot place, so a nice red color won't hurt it.
