Hey guys,
I'm planning to Copper Coat some exhaust gaskets to fill in where there's some pitting.

Is Copper Coat good for stuff like this?

For future reference, apparently, this stuff is good for exhaust manifolds and the like; even works to seal in fuel situations like carb gaskets & such for all you carbed guys.

Got it at Advance Auto Parts for ~$6

did you use it on both sides of the gaskets, or instead of the gaskets?

Body Damage is Cool
use it on both sides of gasket. I spray my headgaskets with it too.

Yes on both sides of the gasket.

I don't think you could get it to build up enough to be used as a gasket, and if you could, it would only work the one time since the head and headers are two different materials that expand/cool at differently

I also used Copper Coat on both sides of the gaskets for my Downey V6 headers. The Downey instructions call this out.

Two years, no leaks.

Back in my street rodding days, we used to spray the header and head gaskets with copper or alum. spray paint, both sides. This was before the composite head gaskets came out.
