Following up with the newest details....

So, had my appointment at the dealer an hour + away from home. Drum roll!
Got there drove in and filled out the papers. The mech takes "silver" drives her for a few laps comes back and says: Sir thats just gear lash. I'm not gonna do anything for ya! LOL!
I explain how it is not just a normal gear sound and challenge his diagnosis. GM quickly steps in. Explain situation again. We go for a ride he hears the sound says it doesnt belong there. He and mech go for ride. Fellow responds with apology! Accepted...
How do we/you resolove the issue gentalmen?
Exuse after exuse is brought out and tried in vain.
For example:
Sir your sound is equal to that of a rattle in the dash board...nothing more
Sir we wont check anything physically as this would not fit the guide lines of Jeep war'nty
Sir we'll need to charge $86 hour to find the prob
Sir we think the sound isnt much
Sir the coverage will not permitt us to check inside the drive train components all we can do is touch, tug and look
Sir the differential will be a seperate charge to open and verify if something is looose, missing, broke
Sir the age of the vehical and the mileage could have adjusted your backlash
Sir we wont verify its the u joint, that will be a seperate chargable per hour fee
Sir we think your over stating about the noise
Sir its good the sound is getting worse because that means it will break down and then we can service the jeep
Sir we think your sway bar link is screwy so well replace that next week when you come back to have it done

I've had with Jeep/Crysler.. ..They did nothing but feed the same line of chit as the other dealer. They hear the popping/snapping but they wont fix it. They know its in the back half of the jeep yet there is nothing but exuces.

I'm now to thepoint where I'll have to pay to get the service the coverage with this vehical should supply.

Ok insist on meeting with a factory rep.. It WILL happen if you raise enough hell..
Then when meeting take him for a ride to hear the noise and upon returning take a BRAND NEW JEEP out over the same track.. That ought to do it.

The problem with new techs today is they cannot diagnose problems any more. Just throw parts at it until its fixed and keep charging the owner. I got the same song and dance from one Chevy dealer who wouldnt diagnose the problem unless I PAID THEM. OK, its making a horrendous noise, it has a problem, fix it and dont charge me because thats what the warranty is for. My HD had a bad vibration at 70 which was acknowledged by the tech, he replaced a ujoint which helped a little but did not remove the vibe. Took it to another dealer who put it up on jack stands and found that the driveshaft was WARPED. Prolly woulda cost me a bundle at the first dealership and they may have never put it up on stands to find the problem. Jim is right, dont stop with the dealer, continue up the ladder and dont give up til they fix it.

Raise a big fuse, keep asking for "your boss" untill you get someone who gives you an answer you want. If one person gives you a line of crap, ask for his boss. If his boss does the same just keep on DEMANDING the next guy, the better service and so on. Do exactly like Big Jim says, take a rep for a ride or two. The only down side will be having to drive to the dealership because everyone will want to make an appointment that is a few days from NOW. Deal with it (dont get pissed) untill they do what is right!

Body Damage is Cool
Start off by going to the General Manaager of the dealership. Don't go through the service department - just call the GM's secretary and make an appointment to see him. If your meeting with him is dissatisfactory, then contact the District Manager (for your district) of Chrysler/Jeep. If that doesn't work, then make an appointment to talk to a factory representative.

If none of that works, call your congressman and request a billion dollars of federal loans to restructure your jeep.

That last suggestion seems the most fesible with the least amount off energy! LOL! That was pretty funny!

No, I dont believe I'll just throw in the towel, but I'll pace myself and slowly widdle away at having these dealers find the problem. This new place I went he GM came out and talked right away. He was the one who could hear the noise and had the tech go with him. Actually, I thought about this issue a few times this weekend. I even inquired with to people whom I know that work on autos and they both encouraged me to continue with the dealer. Nope! Not pissed just loathing the beraucracy and run around.
