I have 196k supercharged miles on my '99 V6, and have loved every mile. The power is great - don't let anyone convince you otherwise.

The only problem that I can see, to be honest, is that our older Tacos are racking up the miles and aren't as bulletproof as they were 5 or 6 years ago. I'd maaaaaybe be a little concerned about longevity if you added one to a Tacoma with over 150k miles...
Just my opinion though! Otherwise, I'm veeeerrrryyyy happy with mine! Search around and you'll find TONS of info and forum discussions here!

And if you do get the SC make sure to get the correct fuel mods along with it to correct the lean out and pinging typically associate with the SC.

You can get by w/o the fuel mods, but spending the extra cash on larger fuel pump/injectors/etc. will prevent the engine from leaning out at high rpms and possibly causing problems in the future.
As a sidenote: I've got the older-style TRD supercharger on mine (with the grey housing) -- no fuel upgrades -- and haven't had any malfunctions and the truck runs like a champ. The only time it's 'pinged' is when it was accidentally filled with Regular 87-octane fuel once...
However, the older blowers, like mine, came with an FMU (Fuel Management Unit) that SUPPOSEDLY helped prevent that leaning out. But this wasn't widely confirmed, and the part wasn't included on newer units.
Just some info thrown your way! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Roll Me Over
TRD figured out how to make a FMU without using that stupid device by plugging into a different port on the blower so they discontinued it.
Personally, i wouldnt run it without fuel mods because i want high reliability.
