We recently got home from a 10 day juant through the southwest US. We visited Kofa National Wildlife Preserve in sw Arizona, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park & Death Valley National Park in California. It was a great trip through some beautiful deserts. Sure beat the sub zero temps we've been experiencing since getting back home.

My 285/75/16 BFG AT KO's gave up the ghost in September, after 45K miles of abuse. I love the KO's and I loved the 285's but I wanted to try something different this time around. I was fortunate enough to score a set of TrXus MT's, size 255/85/16 from fellow T100 owner and forum member, Brew. These are a hair taller and more narrow than the 285's.





I've been really anxious to try the TrXus for awhile now. Their reviews in the snow are very positive. As soon as it warms up enough here to snow, I'll have more feedback of my own. They howl on the highway but not too bad. Nothing that turning up the radio can't cover up. Just in case, we had on board the ARB tire puncture repair kit, which fortunately we didn't need. Thanks Brew for a great deal on some tough tires!





Missing from my usual trip photos is our Four Wheel Camper. I recently decided to purchase an Autohome Columbus Carbon Fiber roof top tent. This tent is top of the line and at only 82lbs., it will make a great addition to our '85 Landcruiser. We picked it up in AZ, and put it on the truck, via two Thule bars bolted across the bed rails. It extended a few inches past the bed, about equal with the tailgate when opened and we had about 4" of space on the sides. It covered our gear in tubs underneath really well.








Set up is ridiculously easy - undo one latch, watch the gas struts raise it up, crawl in & unhook the interior bungees. Done. In addition, you can leave all of your bedding inside when it's closed. The tent comes with a nice mattress and 3 pillows. We put on flannel sheets and a down comforter and slept quite nicely.











We still have our Four Wheel Camper and hopefully always will. It will go back on the truck next Spring. But I really like the low profile of the tent on the truck. The additional gas mileage with the tent over the camper, was a big bonus. I brought my 20L military spec Scepter fuel can but didn't need it. Nice to have though, when rolling through Death Valley and across desolate Nevada.

Wow Creeper...Nice seeing those tires get some use other than Indiana mud and snow. I feel like a father seeing his kids go off to college. I too am happy you got a good deal and that you were able to try the TrXus without having to fork over the price of a new set. I don't think they look much narrower than the KOs you had previously.
