Maybe the Dynomax/Monza tip users can chime in on this one...

Couple of weeks ago I ordered what I thought was the correct Monza Pacesetter tip from JC Whitney-the one that the Dynomax users were buying. I got model #95-9938 & have not installed it or the muffler yet. Then I read on another board of a couple of people experiencing a loud "swooshing" sound coming from the tip at WOT. Someone said that the correct tip is model # 95-9125 (Big Bore Pencil tip) and it does NOT create that sound on his rig at WOT.

Has anyone here heard that "swooshing" from their Monza tip with a Dynomax muff? What model # are yall using?

Below is the link to the Monza Pacesetter exhaust tip page for reference. Thanks.

I dont know that I can help you too much but you might try some of the pipes like I got if you like the style.. They are loud enough without Monza resonators. Just went to Pep Boys and ordered stainless steel... NOW LIFT THAT PUPPY!!! PM me if you need any help or suggestions.

You want either the 95-9125 or the 95-9225. I don't see how a slight difference in tip could cause that swooshing sound, but I could be wrong. I have the 95-9125 and I love it. It sounds great and looks great also. Later.

I've heard reports that the 9225 doesn't make the sound. I don't know why one does and the other doesn't unless they're different sizes or the perforations in the bore are different.

If you find out, let us know. I'd strongly consider removing mine and changing to the other one if I knew it would solve the problem.

I called Monza yesterday to ask about the difference in the 95-9938 and the 95-9125 and the guy said that the inside "exit" diameter was the same on both tips even though the 9125 has the straight "pencil" look on the outside. Although, I kinda got the impression he wasn't totally sure of it.

I measured the inside "exit" diameter of the 9938 that I got and it's 1 5/8 inches even though the outside diameter is 3 inches. I'm no exhaust expert but 1 5/8 inches to me seems a bit shallow even if the rest of it is the resonation cavity. Maybe, if you can LSUMatt, can you measure the inside "exit" diameter of your 9125 and let us know what it is?

In any event, I'm sending this tip back to JC Whitney. I called them yesterday also and they don't stock the Monza 95-9125 or the 95-9225 ...said I'll have to go directly to Monza to order. BTW, according to the Monza site the 95-9225 has a 3 1/2 inch outside diameter so I'm thinking it should have a larger inside diameter as well. We'll see.

Later,
Rob

Bump...for LSUMatt on "exit" inside diameter of his Monza 95-9125. I'm now kinda thinking about trying the 95-9225 tip (3 1/2 exit diameter on outside) which might mean the inside exit diameter is larger than 1 5/8 inches.
