Need a Spot
My manual shifter is really sloppy.
I just bought the kia yesterday and have noticed that
the shifter when in gear can be moved side to side alot.
Was wondering if thats normal or not, also what can be done to fix it if its not normal.

Thanks
Donald Elam

I won't say this is normal, although mine does it too. Probably a worn bushing or linkage at the bottom of the shift lever. I've not ever had the boot off the console or I'd have a go at fixing that myself. kiatechinfo.com has a fairly good breakdown of removing the shifter if you'd like to give it a go.

It is normal for the Sportage shifters to be sloppy and the gearboxes to be noisy. Ya didn't buy a sportscar.....

When the shifter is in 1st gear you can move it all the way to the right(where 5th is) that seems like alot of slop.
