Getting the Wheeling Fever
Ok, last week I asked a question about the 4 wheel drive making a noise on passenger side, took it to the shop, had no freaking clue what was up. So came here and you guys gave great advice, so today with the weather at 30 degrees above zero, i tackled taking off the hubs, checking bearings, (doing the test), checked the calipers, took off the other side, did same thing and no slop at all. Checked all the boots, all clean, no holes. Doesn't make the noise while manual spinning. Any other ideas? Shop is loss, I am at a loss and getting ready to run this thing into a tree!
Thanks for any advice!

If your check engine light is on at least you know the light still works

Maybe front driveshaft is binding up? Make sure it's greased. Mine is making noise too, but it's been too cold to mess with it and now that it's warmed up it's too wet to climb around underneath.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Ok changed the outer bearing today, and now the sound is quieter, however, I feel a slight vibration every once in a while.
Can you tell me where the slip joint is?
REmember I am a single mom, who's trying to do this by what you guys tell me. So any help would be grateful......And now it's intermittent again. HELP! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

if you jack up the truck look at the drive shaft the shaft from the transfer case and the front diff. and see a gease fitting on the shaft the slipjoint is right there the shaft looks like 2 peices and it is, if the slip joint is rusted it can not slide as the truck flexes, salt on the road is the killer. if it is rusted and lubing it does not help you might need to replace it. I had to replace the 1 on my wifes sportage then she traded it in on a VW Bug.

Body Damage is Cool
The slip joint in the drive line should not be making this noise, but it could. Easy to check and lube while you're at it.

Do you still need the instructions for the full front wheel bearings servicing?
