2002 Kia Sportage. I want to cross reference parts that will fit my SUV that are sold for other vehicles. Is there a cousin out there? You know what I mean? Lame Example: Ford Ranger/ Nissan Frontier
Please post your results guys/gals. Most of us use this site as a reference from you 4X4 gods. Please don't refer us to some lame Kia Forum either.

what type of parts are you looking for? ford owned kia but let it go it's own way. SOHC use ford and mazda parts, DOHC are a little different. on sensors some aftermarket don't work that well. some aftermarket 02 sensors don't work at all and will code. some of the guys here toyota diff's with some mods

Im a tinkerer, ignorant, newbie 4X4er. I want to know if there is a simalar vehicle I can swap parts with. Or order cool bolt-on parts for that vehicle that will fit my 1st Gen SUV. I think the answer would guide all us newbies, since we use your wisdom as a reference in our hobbies and repairs. Thank You.

I don't know, first thing would be to ask I need so and so parts, are there palces I can get it, my ? would be why not just use Kia parts ? there junk yards and some aftermarket, you can even mail order parts.

The 2nd gen Sportage is simular to the Hyundai Tucson. The 1st gen is all by it's self.

take also a look at the KIA POTENTIA engine It will look familiar the 2.0 verzion now the thing is that the Potentia has also a V6 2.5 version.... if you know what I mean... My junkyard guy CLAIMS than the potentia 2.0 engines fit the sportage "as is" only changing the thermostal housing location meaning that the bellhousing is the same IF ( and on that I couldnt find any info ) the potentia uses the same tranny in both models then IN THEORY we could fit the V6 2.5 engine Not bad...
