THANK YOU!!!!! The pics are great! It should help a bunch to compare the pics to his axles when he arrives today. I really appreciate it. This may save a long trip to multiple salvage yards. GREAT! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

STOP!! Don't replace those axles if the ends are ground off (unless you really want to that is). I did the infamous "regroove the groove to a smaller snap ring fix" using a dremel tool and it has been solid for 3 years or so now. Look back through my posts and I think there are some references to it and others that have done the same. Good luck!

Well, I finally had a chance to check the situation out myself. It turns out that the slot for the snap ring on the end of the axles was ground off. For now, we were able to put the auto hubs back on and secure them with some shims and a bolt in the end of the axle. This should be far more solid than the little factory snap ring setup. If and when the axles get replaced, we will put the manual hubs on. We may still cut a new slot in the existing axles as well to make the hubs work without replacing the axles. Thanks for all the assistance.

We may still cut a new slot in the existing axles as well to make the hubs work without replacing the axles. One of the guys in our group did that with a small cut-off wheel on a dremel and it worked fine.

Ta-da! I love to post this picture. I feel like, as a newby, I can contribute something. You can see how the outer splines (from the snapring groove outward) have completely worn away. I used a Dremel to grind down a new groove and used a slightly smaller snapring. Worked great! ![[Linked Image]](http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e322/tato-head/HPIM0926.jpg)
