Hello.... I am proud owner of a Mitsu Montero 1982 with 210000 Kms since new.... It has been well mainteined and low use for years... I am having a rare noise in the suspension components like some little cranks after make a turn ad the car is moving at level position. It occurs after going to the left or right and the noise is somewhere under the seat.... I think it would be the torsion bar adjuster.. but.. how can i test it? or what I have to check?.
This montero has torsion bars on front and leaf springs on rear. The car is stock right now even with its 16 stock metal rims with rings (like old trucks)
Other question.. someone knows how to set up the carburator?, any pics?, any written help?.
For someone how would be interested, in the place I live we have lots of monteros, from 1982 up to 2008 so it is a place to get some difficult parts...
Thanks

Jorge,
Welcome to the 4x4Wire!!
1. The noise could be rear spring eye bushings in the front or rear of the leaf spring and shackle. You can test for this noise by jumping up/down on the rear bumper. Replace bushings if bad.
2. Dry upper control arm bushings could cause squeaking when the front suspension cycles. Takes grease in the zerk fittings.
3. If you have a bouncy seat base, a seat suspension system on the driver's side, the little wheel way could be squeaking for lack of lubrication. I like silicone spray for that fix.
These are some starting points...

The only adjustments on the carb are some choke adjustments, maybe an idle up dashpot adjustment, and the idle mixture screw. I'd rebuild it before I tried to adjust it...
