I gotta swap the V6 diff from my parts runner to my truck cause the darned front seal started leaking. My 1985 factory service manual say gasket but I've also heard that RTV is OK here too. What would you guys recommend for sealing up the differential?

Need a Spot

I always use what's ever handy (Silicone-RTV blue,Hi-temp red,and oem gaskets) and never had a leak.
But I always scrape both surfaces with a razor blade paying attention to the build up around the studs and I ALWAYS clean both surfaces with carb cleaner.
Also just before putting in place watch for oil dripping down the lowest (6 'oclock position) of the 3rd memeber and the housing for drips of oil which can contaminate your preped surfaces.
Good Luck !

That's cool that you guys have done it both ways and it worked out well. Thanks for sharing your experience. Since either way will work out, I'm thinking the barely used tube of RTV gray I have on the bench is the quickest way to get rolling again <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
