Does anybody replaced the lower ball joints on a 92 Pajero or Montero?
There must be a way without taking the steering knuckle out...
Can't disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle, not enough play. If I could remove the four bolts attached to the suspension arm then I think I would have enough play to pull it apart???

knuckle must come out...when you remove the 4 bolts holding the ball joint on it doesn't just drop out the bottom, it slides out the end of the lower control arm. if you crawl under your truck and look you will know what I'm talking about. the knuckle comes off with 3 good whacks of a hammer. I had mine off a few times, 20 minutes after the wheels were off I had both knuckles on the ground. make sure you take the little locking clip off the end of the axle spline behind the cap on the drive flange...it can be easily missed.

you were right, it has to come all out before you can remove the lower ball joint.
One thing the Haynes book does not say is to take the upper suspension arm out, it is necessary to disconnect the brake line...
I have to change the upper ball joint also...
I'm officialy a grease monkey now!
