5spd or auto?
On a 5spd, there are 2 plugs, one on the side and the other towards or on the bottom. Remove the upper plug and you should be able to touch the fluid with your pinky, unless you have gorilla fingers like me. If not, add some till it runs out and replace the plug.
On an auto, warm up the engine and check the level on the dipstick with the trans in park. The stick will be in the engine compartment toward the firewall. On mine it's on the passy side, behind the oil dipstick. You'll add fluid thru that same dipstick hole.
The only stupid question is the one you don't ask and FUBAR something as a result...

No, it's a screw in plug. It's reusable, unless it's damaged.

I owne 1985 Mitsu Monty. The plug for the transfer case is located on the back of it, next to the tailshaft housing, you will probably have to remove the speedometer cable. The drain plug is down toward the front output shaft. I'd recommend changing the xfer case fluid if you haven't done so.. but as Haze said its the same on both, I just fill em up till it starts to dribble back at me.
