Guys, I'm looking to replace the rear bumper on my rig to an early Gen 1 (1983-1985) the one that is only 3 inches from the rear of the rear cab rather than the 7 or so inches on the later Gen 1's (1896-1991). I'm trying to change the departure angle without changing the stock look of the truck. Any help would be useful in tracking one down. I would prefer a black one if possible, but at this point a chrome one would do just as well.

Az crew might have one layin around, I know i saw it maybe a year ago. I helped LT take it off, for some reason once we got it off we decided it wouldn't work on the '89 or decided to go custom i can't remember. Anyway it might still be sitting in his garage or in a perts pile somewhere. Pm lordtrunks

I've posted for this bumper before, too. No real good responses. The bumper mounts are different after the V6 model was introduced. The rear frame section extends outward through the hole in the bumper on later models, where the hitch plate is recessed on earlier models. You'd have to fab your own mounts for the 2-piece bumper.
Kim will be bringing the black rear bumper down to me this week, if you remain interested.

I wouldn't mind doing some cutting or fabing up some custom mounts if needed. It's the welding I don't have the ability to do which is fine since I want to keep a stock look.
How much difference is ther in the frame?

1896? Wow, Monty's HAVE been around a long time... Caught and highlighted the typo WM <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> Good eye! Thought they started in 82. Isn't that the year of that white cherry J-top looking one a new guy posted about a few weeks ago?

Anyone? Joe's Truck do you have anything? I would be willing to come pick one of these up if available within an hour or two of SF.
